CHRIS: Now, I’m going to give you a topic. JODY: Yeah. CHRIS: And I’d like you to talk about it for one to two minutes. JODY Okay. CHRIS: Before you talk, you’ll have one minute to think about what you’re going to say. You can make some notes if you wish. Do you understand? JODY: Yes. CHRIS: Here’s some paper and a pencil for making notes and here’s your topic. Please don’t write anything on the booklet. JODY: Okay. CHRIS: I’d like you to describe a wild animal that can be found in your country … ************ All right, remember you have one to two minutes for this so … JODY: Yes. CHRIS: … don’t worry if I stop you. JODY: Okay. CHRIS: I’ll tell you when the time is up. Can you start speaking now, please? JODY Yes. I will like to talk about Formosan bear ‘cause like, Taiwan is like a island and ‘formosan’ it means beautiful island and Formosan bear is one, the only one bear species in Taiwan. Like, Taiwan only have one kind of bear, it’s Formosan bear and it have a V-shaped hair. It’s all black and it has a V-shaped hair. It means, like victory. So it’s very like special and popular bear in Taiwan. So, it also have a name called Dog bear ‘cause like, it’s really ferocious, so it’s really mean and like, kind of like a little dog for you like, cause like, victory. So when you see it, it means like you may gain victory in the future like something may become successful in your life. So it’s like, really like lucky charm for Taiwanese. And it live in a highest mountain in Taiwan like Asian mountain so it’s very rare to see him and because of the … due to the destruction in the society and environment, also the hunting, so its only have less than one hundred bears in Taiwan now. So it’s really special and I really like these bear ‘cause like, when I was childhood I’ve seen it before and like, after that day, like, the whole month I feel like I’m the victory, I feel so happy and everything goes so well. So I think it’s really like a lucky charm for Taiwanese and I really think it’s our special animals, our special animal in Taiwan and I really like it. CHRIS: Thank you. So, how many times have you seen this … JODY One. CHRIS: … Formosan bear? JODY: Only one. CHRIS: Okay. Thank you. Can I have the booklet and pencil and paper back, please
