For flowcharts, include the number of steps. Because the procedure has several possible directions, you don’t need to count the number of steps. Rather, you can say, “there are several/numerous steps”. You should also include where the procedure starts and finishes, including possible endings.

Like processes/procedures, every step or stage is a main feature in a flow chart, and you need to include them in your description. Paraphrase the labelled steps in the diagram. You should use cohesive devices to describe sequence and addition.

Making comparisons are sometimes relevant for flowcharts when there are alternative directions the procedure can take according to the information in the diagram.
