Boris Johnson has been discharged from hospital today, as the UK death toll among COVID-19 hospital patients rose to above 10,500.
The Prime Minister's fiancee Carrie Symonds thanked the magnificent NHS after Mr Johnson returned to Chequers for further recovery after spending seven nights in St Thomas' Hospital, three in intensive care.
It came as the researcher Sir Jeremy Farrar warned that the UK could end up with the worst death toll in Europe, as the number of recorded deaths in hospitals passed the grim 10,000 milestones.
The UK Government has also pledged £200m to the World Health Organisation to help the fight against a second global wave of the virus.
